International Peace Worker in Nepal


Field of work:

As an International Peace Worker you will be supporting a local organisation in strengthening its work in area of psychosocial support and conflict transformation.

  • Planning and implementation of the CPS project jointly with the local counterpart
  • Strengthening of psychosocial deliveries for women and marginalised groups on community level
  • Developing assessment procedures for psychosocial service needs
  • Empowerment of community actors to identify needs and to develop psychosocial support
  • Preparing and facilitating trainings/workshops for women as actors in conflict transformation
  • Integrating into the partner organisations team and adjustment to the partner organisations’ working conditions, Developing strategies jointly with the partner organisation to better address the partner organisation’s organizational needs, as well to establish a functional project management system
  • Ensuring a proper and adequate application of funds and regular communication with the country coordinator, other CPS projects in Nepal and Kurve Wustrow in Germany
  • Developing ongoing conflict and security analysis related to the CPS work and close cooperation with other CPS workers in Nepal
  • Where necessary public relation and networking activities in Germany



  • University or similar degree in peace and conflict studies, psychology, or another relevant field
  • Relevant training in conflict transformation, psycho-social counsellor or similar field
  • Work experience within NGOs, preferably in international and conflict context
  • Sound knowledge and experience in the field of peace building, psychosocial support and/or counselling for marginalised groups as well as experience in the field of strengthening gender equality and access to women’s rights
  • Knowledge about conflict transformation
  • Experience in developing and facilitating trainings, skills in research based advocacy, project management and strategy development skills
  • Experience working in post-disaster context is an asset
  • Willingness to travel to remote areas
  • Team player with intercultural competences, ability for self-reflection, high flexibility, motivation
  • Knowledge of the context and work experience in Nepal would be an asset
  • Professional command of English and motivation to learn Nepalese
  • German language skills would be an asset



Contractual Conditions:

We offer a contract according to the German law for development aid workers (only for EU-citizens, incl. Switzerland) until December 2017. The contract including a preparation period in Germany would start on 01.September 2015.
