Serbian Students Are Making History

KURVE Wustrow Congrats Power of the People in Serbia

Historic Election Victory in Serbia
The Student List has surprisingly won an absolute majority in the parliamentary election. Such a success by a purely student-led movement is unprecedented and a powerful symbol of nonviolent and creative change!

The entire KURVE Wustrow team offers its heartfelt congratulations!

A reason to celebrate - here in Wustrow, too
The photo captures the joy here at our center: The KURVE Wustrow team is spontaneously celebrating this historic moment together with the international participants of our current seminar. The energy and hope are immense!

But how did resistance to corruption turn into a protest movement?
How did the students manage to successfully navigate this rocky path? The answer lies in two core values that have also shaped our own work for decades: In response to massive violence, restrictions, and bans, they consistently and repeatedly responded over a long period of time with new nonviolent, creative actions.

An Emotional Retrospective by Nenad
If you’d like to delve deeper into the background, we recommend reading the latest article by Nenad Vukosavljević. He reports directly from Serbia on behalf of our partner organization, the Center for Nonviolent Action (CNA). We have been working closely with CNA as part of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) for more than 25 years.
